When Khrushchev was forced out of office, he left a note and two sealed letters for his successor.  The note read, “When you find yourself in a hopeless situation that you cannot escape, open the first letter and you'll be saved. When you find yourself in another situation of no escape, open the second letter.” 

Well soon enough the new guy found himself in a crisis and decided to open the first letter, which said "Blame everything on me". So he blamed the old man and it worked like a charm. 

When the next crisis came along the second letter was opened. There in Kruschev’s scrawl, were the words "Sit down and write two letters".
